Job summary

Canoe Forest Products Ltd. is expanding its accounting team in Salmon Arm, BC, with a brand-new Junior Accountant position.

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role offers a hands-on start in month-end, reconciliations, budgeting, and financial reporting for a long-standing Canadian wood products company. The role supports collaboration with accounting and operational teams, with CPA designation support and a clear path for growth within the Gorman Group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• Interest in pursuing a CPA designation is an asset. The Company will support ongoing professional development through the CPA PEP program.
• Previous accounting experience through a co-op, internship, summer position, or other employment is an asset, but not required.
• Experience with an ERP or accounting system is an asset, but not required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial reports and investigate variances or unusual items.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other financial analysis.
• Maintain accounting schedules, including fixed assets and balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with annual audit and year-end information requests.
• Support accounting controls, documentation, and process improvements.
• Work with accounting and operational teams on financial information, analysis, special projects, and other ad hoc requests.
