Job summary

Trail Appliances Ltd. in Richmond, BC is seeking a Junior Accountant to support the month-end close and provide valuable financial insights.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment helpful for advancing toward your CPA designation. You will prepare and post entries, assist with reconciliations, analysis, and budgeting activities, and help ensure accurate records across multiple departments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a Junior Accountant or similar role.
• Progress toward CPA designation.
• Strong Excel skills and financial data analysis.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• A collaborative mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, amortization, depreciation, and reclassifications.
• Assist with daily bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Analyze monthly financial results and support variance analysis.
• Process statutory remittances and maintain supporting schedules and documentation.
• Assist with annual reviews, audits, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies while ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
• Support the Accounting team with month-end close activities and continuous process improvements.
