Job summary

RVA, an employee-owned engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Junior Accountant to join the Finance team in Toronto. In this role, you'll support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, and project-related financial administration within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

You'll gain exposure to project accounting, billing, and financial reporting while contributing to an employee-owned culture and working closely with colleagues to improve processes and data quality.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (college diploma or bachelor's degree) or equivalent experience.
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint is an asset.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a project-based environment and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process and code accounts payable invoices and employee expense claims; support accounts receivable activities including cash application and client invoicing.
• Perform bank reconciliations and routine general ledger account reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and other month-end and year-end close tasks under supervision.
• Support project accounting activities, including tracking project costs, reviewing time and expenses, and assisting with billing preparations.
• Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules; ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions.
• Prepare basic financial reports and schedules; support audit and review requests by gathering documentation.
• Contribute to process improvements and ad-hoc projects to enhance efficiency and data quality.
