Job summary

Kenaidan Contracting Ltd in Mississauga, ON, is seeking a Junior Accountant for an 18‑month maternity leave contract. The role focuses on AP/AR, reconciliations, journal entries, and general accounting within the construction industry.

The successful candidate will support day-to-day operations, prepare reporting, and assist with month-end close. Degree in accounting or related field and 1–3 years of experience are preferred; CPA pursuit is an asset.

Qualifications

• University or College degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 1–3 years accounting experience; construction industry asset.
• CPA designation is an asset.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Experience with Viewpoint or construction ERP/accounting software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day accounting operations of the company.
• Prepare daily and weekly cash disbursement summary reports.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Assist with accounts receivable, including project invoicing and reconciliations.
• Post monthly journal entries, coordinating with the senior accounting team.
• Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting records.
• Leverage ERP system to streamline processes and procedures.
• Provide backup support to Finance & Administration team.
