Job summary

Northern Mat & Bridge is seeking a Junior Accountant to join our Finance team in a primarily office-based role. You’ll support day-to-day accounting activities across accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, reconciliations, and reporting.

The role emphasizes accurate financial records, month-end close, and collaboration with internal teams. Requires 1–3 years of accounting experience and a degree or diploma in Accounting/Finance. Bilingualism is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Working toward CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • 1 to 3 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and subledgers.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Support senior accountants during month-end activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, analyses, and schedules.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and system enhancements.

Northern Mat & Bridge is seeking a Junior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role supports the accounting team by performing a variety of day-to-day accounting activities across accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, assisting with month-end close activities, and supporting audit and reporting requirements. The position plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy of financial information, supporting cash flow management, and maintaining compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.

Key Areas and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and subledgers.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Support senior accountants during month -end activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, analyses, and schedules.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and system enhancements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with operations, sales, procurement, and other internal departments to resolve accounting, billing, and payment issues.
  • Build positive working relationships with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide support across accounting functions based on business needs and workload priorities.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Working toward CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • 1 to 3 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems is an asset.

Compensation and Benefits
