Job summary

Redpath Mining Inc. is seeking a Jumbo Operator for the North Mine project. The role involves setting up and operating jumbo equipment to drill and blast in a safe manner, with a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation and a 10.5-hour shift length.

Qualified candidates will have multiple years of Jumbo experience, experience with scoops, and familiarity with ground support plans. The company offers comprehensive benefits and a strong safety program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of Jumbo experience.
• 1 year of scoop experience.
• 1 year installing services.
• 1 year loading and blasting rounds.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect and wash down the working area, checking for misfires.
• Read and understand the ground support management plan and carry a copy of the current heading ground support plan into the heading.
• Conduct face prep prior to drilling rounds.
• Read and follow survey memos, mark up offsets, line and grade.
• Read and follow engineered drill profiles (Approved site standards).
• Perform minor repairs, such as changing shanks, couplings and hoses.
• Complete daily checklists/pre-starts on equipment and submit written and verbal reports to supervisor.
• Maintain working area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Must comprehend written and verbal instructions to perform duties safely and efficiently.
• Must follow proper procedures to ensure safety and to prevent equipment damage.

Job Summary

The primary role of a Jumbo Operator is to set up and operate a single or multiple boom jumbo, to drill and blast in a safe manner.

General

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Visually inspect and wash down the working area, checking for misfires
• The ability to read and understand the ground support management plan and carry a copy of the current heading ground support plan into the heading.

• Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
• Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
• Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
• Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

• 3 years or more experience with Jumbo
• 1 year of experience on a scoop
• 1 year of experience installing services
• 1 year of experience loading and blasting rounds.

Knowledge Required

• Demonstrated ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining.
• Demonstrate how to turn corners using offsets
• Ability to multi task and work effectively
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
• Respectful of cultural differences
