Job summary

Komatsu is seeking a Journeyperson Electrician for Field Services in Sparwood, BC. You will troubleshoot complex electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on industry-leading equipment in a fast-paced setting.

Join a Technical Services team with opportunities to travel up to 25% within Canada and the USA. Shift is 7x7, 12 hours per shift and safety-sensitive with required checks and driving records. Relocation is not offered.

Qualifications

• Valid Journeyperson Electrician Certification is required.
• Working knowledge of PLC controls and electrical theory.
• Ability to travel and work away from home for extended periods.
• Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical drawings, and code specifications to install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot, test, and repair electrical and electronic equipment using diagnostic tools.
• Install, maintain, and service motors, generators, and hydraulic/pneumatic control systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and maintain maintenance records.
• Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.

Reports to: Manager, Technical Services

Shift: 7 x 7, 12 hours per shift

Safety Sensitive: Yes—drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5‑year provincial driving record will be required.

Travel: up to 25% within Canada and the USA

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical drawings, and code specifications to install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems
• Troubleshoot, test, and repair electrical and electronic equipment using diagnostic tools to identify faults and ensure safe operation
• Install, maintain, and service motors, generators, alternators, industrial batteries, and hydraulic/pneumatic control systems
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and maintain accurate maintenance and service records
• Ensure all work meets company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety procedures
• Participate in the on‑call rotation and provide technical support as required

Qualifications / Requirements

• Valid Journeyperson Electrician Certification (Red Seal is an asset)
• Working knowledge of PLC controls, wiring, electrical theory, and industrial power systems
• Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to perform in a fast‑paced environment
• Ability to travel and work away from home for extended periods, access mine sites without restriction, and meet all site‑specific requirements
• Physically capable of safely lifting up to 50 lbs and performing the demands of industrial field work
