Job summary

Aerotek in Calgary is seeking a Journeyman Welder for a contract-to-hire role. You will perform FCAW and GMAW welding on light-gauge steel, aluminum, and stainless, assembling skid units in a large, modern shop. Overnight shift runs 9:45 p.m.

to 6:15 a.m., Monday to Friday, with paid breaks and two paid shuttle periods. Applicants must hold a CWB FCAW or GMAW certification in at least one position, read blueprints, and be able to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • Requires CWB FCAW or GMAW certification in at least 1 position.
  • Experience with production welding in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for welding and structural fabrication.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and wear a respirator.
  • Willingness to work overtime on weekdays and/or weekends when required.

Job Title: Journeyman Welder
Job Description

This role focuses on production welding of skids for data cooling centers across multiple ongoing projects. You will perform FCAW and GMAW welding on light-gauge steel, aluminum, and stainless steel in a large, modern manufacturing environment. You will receive fitting support, and if you are comfortable fitting on your own, this will be considered a strong asset.

Essential Skills
  • CWB FCAW or GMAW certification in at least the 1 position or higher.
  • Proficiency in flux core (FCAW) and MIG (GMAW) welding, including structural and skid welding applications.
  • Experience with production welding in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for welding and structural fabrication.
  • Capability to perform skid welding with consistent quality and accuracy.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting while managing multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to work overtime on weekdays and/or weekends when required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and remain clean shaven to ensure proper fit.
  • Availability to work the overnight shift from 9:45 p.m. to 6:15 a.m., Monday to Friday.
  • Successful completion of a four-day orientation and on-the-job evaluation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Fitting experience, including positioning and aligning components for welding.
  • Experience using shears and press brakes in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Journeyman or apprentice welder in structural or production welding.
  • Experience with mild steel welding using stick, flux core, and MIG processes.
  • Ability to cross-train in different welding and fabrication tasks to support multiple projects.

Work Environment

You will work the overnight shift from 9:45 p.m. to 6:15 a.m., Monday to Friday, with eight hours of paid work per shift. The schedule includes two paid 15-minute shuttle periods, one paid 15-minute rest break, and one unpaid 30-minute meal break. The facility uses welding processes such as FCAW, GMAW, and stick welding on light-gauge steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel, and may involve the use of shears and press brakes. A four-day orientation is provided, including three days in the classroom and a fourth day of on-the-job evaluation and training. You must be comfortable wearing a respirator and remaining clean shaven to ensure a proper fit. The shop is modern, organized, and designed to support efficient production, with a nice lunch room and a professional, safety-focused atmosphere.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $44.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
