Job summary

VIP Powerline seeks an experienced Journeyman Powerline Technician to support high‑voltage distribution and transmission projects from 12kV to 230kV across the South Island region. The role emphasizes safe execution, quality workmanship, and strong client communication.

You will lead crews, perform live‑line tasks, and ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC standards while mentoring junior technicians and coordinating with inspectors and engineers.

Qualifications

• Interprovincial Red Seal Powerline Technician Certification is required.
• Experience with energized overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems.
• Strong knowledge of utility construction standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems (12kV-230kV).
• Perform energized work following procedures and utility standards.
• Lead safety practices, tailboard meetings, and risk assessments in field environments.
• Mentor apprentices and crew members in safe work practices and technical skills.
