Job summary

The J Hansen HVAC Group Inc. is seeking a skilled Journeyman Plumber to join our team in Winnipeg. You will perform installation, maintenance, and service on plumbing systems in commercial and residential environments, delivering high-quality workmanship.

Ideal candidates are safety-focused, customer-oriented, and able to work independently or with a team. Red Seal certification is required; Gas Fitter Class B is an asset.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Journeyperson Plumber Certification is required.
• Secondary school completion is required.
• Gas Fitter Class B license is preferred; willingness to obtain certification is an asset.
• WHMIS and applicable safety certifications are expected.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications for layout of plumbing systems.
• Install, repair and maintain domestic, commercial, and industrial plumbing fixtures and systems.
• Locate and mark pipe connections and fixtures in walls and floors.
• Cut openings in walls/floors to accommodate pipes and fittings.
• Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes with tools or machinery.
• Inspect systems and perform preventative maintenance and service work.

Job description

The J. Hansen HVAC Group Inc. is in search of a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Plumber to join our team. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated professional with strong mechanical aptitude who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship. This role involves performing installation, maintenance, and service work on plumbing systems in commercial and residential environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems
• Install, repair, and maintain domestic, commercial, and industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
• Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors
• Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings
• Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
• Inspect plumbing systems to identify issues and implement effective solutions
• Perform preventative maintenance and service work as required
• Prepare cost estimates as required
• Complete service documentation and communicate findings and recommendations professionally to customers
• Support 24-hour emergency service on a flexible rotating on-call schedule
• Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in good working condition
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

• Service experience in commercial and/or residential environments is an asset
• Backflow certification is considered an asset
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to support 24-hour emergency service on a rotating schedule
• Ability to conduct work while standing, bending, crawling, lifting, climbing, pulling, and reaching
• Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and/or aerial platforms
• Must be comfortable working at heights
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to provide a driver’s abstract

Education & Certifications

• Completion of secondary school is required
• Red Seal Journeyperson Plumber Certification is required
• Gas Fitter Class B License is preferred; willingness to obtain certification is considered an asset.
