Job summary

OCL Group Inc. in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, is seeking a Journeyman Pipefitter for our fabrication shop on a full-time basis with a 5/2 schedule. Future projects may require overtime, weekend shifts, or short-term field work.

You will read blueprints, lay out and fabricate piping systems, perform hydrotests, and ensure safety compliance. We value reliability, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

  • Registered Journeyman Pipefitter with shop/industrial fabrication experience.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • May require pre-access drug and alcohol test for certain sites.
  • May need safety tickets and site orientations as required.
  • Class 5 driver's license with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment.
  • Read blueprints and specifications.
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems.
  • Hydrotest and install pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies.
  • Test for leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors.
  • Maintain tools, workspace and equipment in a clean, orderly fashion.
  • Read/interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure FLRA is completed and work safely.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated Journeyman Pipefitter to join our fabrication team. This is a full-time, shop-based role with a 5/2 schedule. Future project requirements may include overtime, weekend shifts, or short-term field work.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Maintain equipment
  • Read blueprints and specifications
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes
  • Demonstrate knowledge of functional operation of various piping system components by measuring, cutting, threading, grooving of pipes, valves and fittings
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair pressurized piping systems
  • Hydrotest and install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding designed supports as required
  • Use testing equipment effectively to check for system leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors
  • Maintain all tools, work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Read and interpret client and company supplied construction fabrication drawings and specifications
  • Red-line update drawings to an as-built condition
  • Ensure FLRA is completed at the beginning of every job and work is completed safely
  • Complete equipment maintenance in line with OCL Group and industry standards, procedures and practices
  • May perform other related duties assigned
  • Maintain shop cleanliness

Experience/Education/Qualifications
  • Registered Journeyman Pipefitter
  • Previous experience in a shop or industrial fabrication environment
  • CSTS 2020 Fundamentals (contains WHMIS 2015)
  • May be required to complete a pre-access drug and alcohol test when working on certain sites
  • May need to have certain safety tickets and complete site specific orientations for certain sites
  • Class 5 driver's license with reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
