Job summary

Allan's Disposal Services Ltd. is seeking a skilled Journeyman Mechanic to maintain, repair, and modify equipment used in disposal and landscaping operations, ensuring machinery is safe and ready for daily use.

You will inspect, diagnose, repair hydraulic systems, service heavy equipment, and work with operations teams to minimize downtime. A Journeyman certification and 3–5 years of experience are required; a valid driver’s license is needed.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Mechanic certification required.
  • 3–5 years of related experience.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with heavy equipment, trucks, or hydraulic systems is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented.
  • Have a driver's license and vehicle to arrive at work.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment including trucks, trailers, hydraulics, engines, and motors.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative servicing on disposal and landscaping equipment.
  • Repair and service hydraulic systems and mechanical components.
  • Modify and customize equipment to meet operational needs, including installing specialized attachments.
  • Conduct safety inspections to ensure equipment meets quality and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
  • Work closely with operations teams to identify equipment issues and minimize downtime.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Properly use, maintain, and store tools and shop equipment.
