Job summary

City of Edmonton is seeking a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to inspect, maintain and repair the City’s diverse fleet of heavy equipment and vehicles. You will diagnose and repair to OEM specifications, while adhering to safety and OH&S standards.

Apprentices receive specialized training from technical trainers and journeyperson mentors to develop the expertise needed for ongoing fleet support and evolving fuel technologies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Alberta qualified apprentice (3rd year Truck & Transport Technician or 4th year Heavy Equipment Technician considered).
• Journeyperson: Alberta Journeyperson in Heavy Duty Mechanic/Technician; Interprovincial Red Seal preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, minor and heavy repair work on engines, powertrain, brakes, steering and electrical systems.
• Diagnose using diagnostic tools and traditional methods; perform CVIP and police inspections.
• Assist in training apprentices and junior staff; enter data in fleet management system.
