Job summary

qathet School District is seeking a temporary Heavy Duty / Commercial Transport Mechanic to maintain and repair district vehicles and equipment. This role is 37.5 hours per week, 12 months per year, under supervision with independent diagnostic judgment.

Qualified applicants will have a Red Seal mechanic certification, BC MV Inspector’s certificate, Class 2 BC license with air, and First Aid. Experience with diesel/gas engines and on-board electronics is essential.

Qualifications

• High school graduation is required.
• Red Seal Heavy Duty/Commercial Transport Mechanic certification.
• BC MV Inspector’s certificate is required.
• Class 2 BC Driver's License with air endorsement.
• First Aid certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed weekly/monthly/yearly maintenance schedules.
• Manage and maintain records for preventative maintenance programs.
• Ensure equipment meets district and regulatory standards.
• Perform duties related to the trade.
• Operate a school bus for student transportation.
• Perform other related duties as needed.
