Hoisting Overhead Cranes in Alberta is seeking a Journeyman Electrician for our Nisku-based Service Team. You will inspect, service, and repair overhead cranes and hoists, working independently or with a skilled team to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes for clients.

Qualifications

  • Active Alberta Journeyman certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience in industrial/heavy equipment electrical environments.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • 10,000+ crane servicing hours preferred.
  • Comfortable working at heights up to 125 feet.
  • OSSA Fall Protection, Standard First Aid, H2S Alive and Fit Testing.
  • Ability to communicate in English (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, commission, fault-find and repair overhead cranes and hoists.
  • Review electrical drawings and schematics to ensure proper equipment layouts.
  • Attend breakdowns, diagnose faults and complete repairs.
  • Complete scheduled servicing and crane inspections, documenting work.
  • Assist in commissioning new equipment and maintain records.

Due to continued growth in our Nisku based operations – we’re now looking for a skilled and self-driven Journeyman Electrician to join our Service Team. If you’re looking for stable, full-time work with excellent overtime potential, supportive teammates, and variety in your day — this is it.

About the Role

Our Journeyman Electricians are responsible for the inspection, maintenance, commissioning, fault finding, servicing and repair of overhead cranes, hoists and associated lifting equipment. Working independently and as part of a highly skilled team, you deliver safe, reliable, dependable, high-quality outcomes for our customers.

Scope of the Work
  • Follow Hoisting’s Code of Conduct and safety guidelines.
  • Review electrical drawings and schematics, engineered drawings, and electrical specifications to ensure the drawings and specifications function as designed while verifying electrical code specifications to determine appropriate equipment layout.
  • Complete electrical and mechanical services of lifting equipment such as the inspection of gearboxes and oil levels, electrical motors, electronic control systems, cross travel and long travel wheels, and load ropes.
  • Complete the installation, maintenance, servicing and repair of electrical systems on overhead cranes, hoists and associated lifting equipment.
  • Attend breakdowns, diagnose faults, and complete repairs to rectify electrical faults safely and efficiently working independently or as part of a supportive team.
  • Complete scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and crane inspections – documenting your work to satisfy regulatory reporting.
  • Complete your responsibilities and be accountable as a key member in the commissioning of new equipment or when supporting crane and hoist installations.
  • Complete maintenance records and other required documentation with accuracy and compliance.

  • Ensure you and your work are compliant with the National Safety Council (NSC) requirements completing daily field logs (JHA’s) and meet all task related safety requirements.
  • Completing electronic driver logs (ELD) as per Transportation Canada Regulations and ensuring that they are done daily and kept up to date.
What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role you have:

  • A current Alberta Journeyman Certificate or equivalent trade certificate.
  • Experience in industrial, construction, heavy equipment or similar electrical environments.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • 10,000+ hours of crane servicing experience preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable working at heights up to 125 feet.
  • A commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Completed a Drug and Alcohol screening satisfactory to Hoisting.
  • Current OSSA Fall Protection, Standard First Aid, H2S Alive, and Fit Testing.
  • The ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time forty (40) hours per week position primarily a day shift cycle. There are times when you are required to work off shift cycles or weekends to complete the work in the shop or on a client site.

To meet the needs of our clients we need you to:

  • Participate in the after-hours rotation schedule.
  • Some out of town work required.

Whenever possible we plan this work ahead to minimize surprises and the disruption it may cause outside of work.
