Job summary

Hercules SLR Inc. in Mississauga, ON is seeking a full-time Crane Technician to inspect and test hoists and cranes to ensure safety certification complies with regulations. You will support the sales team with quotes and advise on repairs, while traveling to customer sites as required.

The role requires hands-on crane experience, safety-focused approach, and a valid driver’s license. A comprehensive benefits package and incentive program are offered.

Qualifications

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Experience performing maintenance & troubleshooting overhead electric cranes is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspections on various hoists and cranes.
  • Diagnoses equipment problems and estimates costs of repairs, replacements, maintenance etc.
  • Performs maintenance & troubleshooting on overhead electric cranes and components and completes required repairs.
  • Completes reports on inspected items neatly and accurately and submits to administration for processing.
  • Maintains paperwork and records of used inventory for billing and certification purposes.
  • Picks up and delivers products to customers as required in company truck.
  • Assists in developing efficient and effective work methods aligned with company policies.

Job description

We are looking for a full-time Crane Technician to join our team in Mississauga, ON. Reporting to the Branch Manager, the crane technician performs inspections and testing on various hoists and cranes to ensure safety certification is in accordance with provincial and federal regulations. The Crane Technician also assists the sales team with quotes and makes recommendations for repair work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs inspections on various hoists and cranes
  • Diagnoses equipment problems and estimates costs of equipment repairs, replacements, maintenance etc.
  • Performs maintenance & trouble shooting on overhead electric cranes and their components and completes required repairs
  • Completes reports on inspected items neatly and accurately either by Cert Tracker or inspection sheets and submits to administration for processing
  • Maintains paperwork and records of used inventory for billing and certification purposes
  • Picks up and delivers products to customers as required in company truck
  • Assists in the development of efficient and effective work methods that are consistent with the company’s policies and procedures
  • Provides input to customer quotes
  • Completes cycle counts of inventory on a periodic basis, as required
  • Performs general labour and/or maintenance work
  • Complies with company quality and safety procedures for completing work
  • Follows customer Safety and Quality rules when working at a customer’s site
  • Maintains company equipment used on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
  • Some travel, possible work evenings and weekends as required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Millwright or Electrical
  • Minimum of 10,000 hours working on cranes and journeyman required
  • Experience performing maintenance & trouble shooting overhead electric cranes considered an asset
  • Experience with working at heights, Lifting Gear Inspection, Wire Rope Examiner and ASME/OSHA rigging fundamentals and requirements considered an asset
  • Knowledge of electricity and hydraulics, capable of troubleshooting for general maintenance
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable
  • Must safely lift 50 lbs. from floor level to waist level
  • Establishes work priorities, ensure deadlines are met and procedures are followed
  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Communicates with customers in a professional manner
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
