What’s the role

Shell Canada Integrated Gas seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join their team in the Fort St John, BC area.

As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be a member of the maintenance team responsible for equipment maintenance, installation, and record-keeping for electrical equipment, in compliance with all applicable internal requirements and external regulations. While this is primarily an individual contributor role, there will be times when collaboration with other team members and customers is essential to successfully complete tasks and responsibilities.

This role requires working locally on a 4/3 10-hour shifts with regular on-call responsibilities, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Accountabilities:

  • Work with and take technical direction from the Site Shell SAES (Senior Authorized Electrical Specialist) role

  • Conductregulatory inspections, preventive maintenance, and reactive/breakdown maintenance on a wide range of electrical equipment in accordance with maintenance manuals and manufacturer’s specifications

  • Identify specific process improvement needs and provides recommendations for system upgrades and streamlining

  • Perform installation, inspection, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of electrical equipment at various sites, including water systems, gas processing facilities, and well sites. Specific equipment will vary depending on the assets at each location and may include motors, motor-operated valves, electrical distribution and transmission systems (from 230kV down to 24 Volt DC instrumentation), PLCs, communication equipment, motor controls, photovoltaic systems, SOFCs, TEGs, MV VFDs, high voltage substations, fire and gas detection systems, generators, and transformers

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills at all organizational levels, manage relationships with contractors and customers, and uphold strong process discipline

  • Perform all work in a safe manner in adherence with Goal Zero

  • Adhere tothe SEAM maintenance execution process (PME). Use SAP Preventative Maintenance (PM) notifications and work orders to manage work processes to ensure all electrical equipment is maintained per scheduled maintenance plans in a timely manner

  • Manage work orders in SAP S4 Hanna to meet maintenance requirements and reactive maintenance requests

  • Manageand organize assigned jobs by determining material and equipment needs, scheduling downtime, and arranging for outside contractors and special items as needed

  • Ensure safe operations and adherence to regulations and manufacturer specifications

  • Respond to abnormal operation conditions

  • Work closely with technical support staff, engineering staff, operations staff, and other stakeholders to maintain system reliability and availability.

  • Provide active support and participationin LEAN processes, audits, inspections, and other company-sponsored initiatives

  • Monitor equipment performance trends to identify potential reliability and/or equipment issues that could impact Operations; develop recommendations to address

  • Adhere topractices and procedures that promote continuous improvement of maintenance programs and tasks

  • Support Management of Change (MOC) process and procedures

  • Monitor own development needs and work with Supervisor to address improvements and training

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Must hold or be able to obtain Red Seal Journeyman Electrician certification

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience is

  • Must possess a Class 5 driver's license

  • Proficient in Maintenance Execution process, SAP software, and standard software programs

  • Must be able to successfully complete the required electrical training for the role, including CSA Z462, CEC 2021 code, and QEW (Qualified Electrical Worker)

  • Must reside within 150km from the Fort St. John District Office

Any of the following technical skills are :

  • Experience with 230KV substations and over headline distribution (230KV and 25KV)

  • Proficient in 25KV, 6.9KV, 4160, 600, 480 VAC switchgear and MCC's

  • Experience with Generator and BC-Hydro Utility systems

  • Understanding of medium voltage transformers, VFDs, and motors, down to 24-135VDC UPS PLC systems and wellsite solar/battery systems

  • Experience with HV transmission and distribution systems, including substation maintenance and troubleshooting, as well as MV VFDs (air-cooled and liquid-cooled)

  • Experience demonstrating safe work practices and compliance in a hazardous work environment

  • Experience performing Electrical maintenance and/or operations of gas processing facilities, water pumping stations, and gas producing well sites

  • Proficient in failure analysis and equipment reliability, along with expertise in cost and budget management

  • Ability to navigate and query reports in SAP, SOU, and other software

  • Experience in procurement, work scheduling, conducting Job Hazard Analysis, obtaining and issuing Work Permits, and applying Lockout/Tag Out

  • Proficient in planning, coordinating, and executing work plans and preventative and reactive maintenance programs

The hourly rate range for this role is $48.79 - $59.26. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
