Job summary

Autism Services in Canada is seeking an experienced electrician to install and maintain electrical systems across facilities. The role requires reading drawings, wiring, lighting, and control equipment, with an emphasis on safety and independent task prioritization.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with electrical systems.
  • Background in electrical wiring, data cabling, outside lighting and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient reading of drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations.
  • Pull wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors.
  • Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment.
  • Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.
  • Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits.
  • Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of systems, following installation, replacement or repair.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components.
  • Connect electrical power to audio and visual communication equipment, signalling devices and heating and cooling systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep records.

Job description

This position requires a responsible, detail-orientated individual with a min of 3 years of experience working with electrical systems. The ideal candidate has a background in electrical wiring, data cabling, outside lighting and power tools, problems solving, decision making, critical thinking and job task planning and organization. The successful candidate for this position must be capable of working independently and be able to prioritize tasks effectively on the job.

Some duties are as follows, but not limited to
