Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Journeyperson Electrician in Calgary, AB. You will read drawings and electrical code specs to determine wiring layouts for a broad range of installations from basic to complex systems.

You will assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring and fixtures, diagnose faults, and ensure compliance with codes. SAP is used to manage work notifications and field support.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician ticket with 2–5 years industrial/commercial experience.
  • Understanding of electrical systems, codes, and safety practices.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specs to determine wiring layouts.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems and locate the cause of breakdowns and correct the problem.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components for hazards, defects, and required repairs to ensure code compliance.
  • Complete work orders and minor work requests daily; provide technical support to end users as needed.
  • Use SAP to process new work notifications and manage open notifications for building and occupant needs.

As an Electrician, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for a broad range of installations including basic to complex systems.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”
  • Under the direction of the Electrical Leads and on‑site Client Supervisor perform maintenance functions.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Complete work orders and minor work request daily.
  • Provides technical support to end users when applicable. Seeks technical guidance from more experienced staff or product vendors when required.
  • Using technical knowledge, skills, and experience, may act as mentor for other staff members.
  • Uses advanced troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems.
  • Use SAP for processing new work notifications and managing open notifications to support building and occupant needs.
  • Adhere to provincial OH&S, Convergint safety policies/procedures and operate equipment and systems in a safe, efficient manner always.
  • Attend and support daily toolbox safety meetings.
  • Communicates with and work with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations.
  • Keeps up to date and informed on company products, services and policies.
  • Presents a professional image of CMD Convergint at all times in appearance and behaviour.
  • You may be called upon to assist with Fire Protection inspections as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
What You’ll Need:
  • Valid and clean driver’s license.
  • Advanced technical skills and experience related to electrical installations that make up the HVAC Building Automation and Security systems we offer our clients.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper)
  • Must be a self‑starter and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and staff development skills. Actively seeks ways in which to act as a role model, guide, develop and mentor others within the team.
  • Travel to jobsites is required. There may be occasional overnight travel. Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to keep tools and work area tidy.
  • Good computer skills including familiarity with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Must have the appropriate tools for the job based on the Convergint Technology tool list requirements.
Requirements
  • Journeyman Electrician ticket
  • Minimum of 2-5 years as a Journeyman with industrial/commercial based electrical experience.
  • Understanding of electrical systems, products, service, and design; knowledge of construction industry and familiarity with local and national electrical codes is required.
