Qualifications

• Experience with medium- or high-voltage electrical systems is an asset.
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, control systems, and instrumentation and process equipment.
• SAP experience is an asset.

• Safely perform pipeline operations, maintenance, inspections, and repairs per procedures and regulations.

Overview:

Pembina’s Transmission & Extraction Operations team is actively hiring an Interprovincial Journeyman Operations Technician to support the Alliance Canada South operational area. Reporting to the Alliance Pipeline South Foreman. Based in Southern Saskatchewan, the Journeyman, Tradesperson plays a key role in maintaining the safe and reliable operation of Alliance Pipeline facilities. This hands-on position supports compressor stations, block valves, pipeline infrastructure, and associated electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical equipment. The role also includes troubleshooting, regulatory compliance, after-hours response, and occasional travel across the Alliance system.

The Alliance Pipeline part of the Transmission & Extraction Operations assets is a 3,848-kilometre (2,391-mile) integrated system connecting Canada and the U.S., transporting rich natural gas from the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and Williston Basin to the Chicago hub.

The Transmission & Extraction Operations assets are responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant transportation and extraction of hydrocarbons across Pembina’s integrated pipeline and facilities network. The asset delivers critical connectivity between upstream supply and downstream markets while maintaining a strong focus on asset integrity, operational discipline, and regulatory excellence.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Champion Pembina’s Zero by Choice safety culture and Life Saving Rules by embedding physical, psychological, and cyber safety into all work practices while taking personal accountability to maintain compliance, support audit readiness, proactively identify risks, and protect our people, assets, and data;
• Safely perform pipeline operations, maintenance, inspections, and repairs in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices;
• Apply strong technical knowledge to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize compressor stations, block valves, pipeline facilities, and associated electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical equipment;
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities that support asset reliability, integrity, and operational performance;
• Adapt to evolving operational requirements by developing proficiency across multiple equipment types, systems, and work processes;
• Identify equipment issues, investigate failures, and contribute to effective solutions that improve reliability and reduce operational risk;
• Locate and mark pipeline facilities in accordance with Pembina's Damage Prevention Program and One-Call requirements while supporting safe excavation activities near pipeline assets;
• Maintain technical competency through ongoing training, certification requirements, knowledge sharing, and hands-on field experience;
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, responding to operational upsets and equipment issues outside regular working hours;
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractor personnel to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations;
• Demonstrate flexibility through overtime, travel, emergency response, and support of work activities across the broader Alliance system as operational needs require; and
• Support a workplace of equity, diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of related industrial operations, maintenance, or technical field experience;
• Interprovincial Journeyman Electrician or Instrumentation Technician certification, or equivalent technical certification, preferred;
• Experience working with medium- or high-voltage electrical systems is considered an asset;
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, control systems, and a variety of instrumentation and process equipment;
• Proficiency with computer-based maintenance and operational systems; SAP experience is considered an asset;
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues, assess risks, and make sound operational decisions;
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and effectively manage work in a dynamic field environment;
• Commitment to continuous learning, technical development, and building proficiency across multiple systems, equipment types, and operational processes;
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with Operations, Engineering, Technical Support, and contractor personnel;
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and responsive to changing priorities, operational requirements, and business needs;
• Proven ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment while supporting reliable operations and operational excellence;
• Valid Class 5 driver's license with a safe driving record; and
• Ability to travel into the US.

This position is considered "Safety Sensitive" and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.

The successful candidate must reside within 50 km of the pipeline right-of-way (ROW) and be based in or near Carlyle, Estevan, Weyburn, SK., or surrounding communities.

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
