Job summary

Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is seeking a skilled Carpenter Journeyman to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on municipal assets in Fort McMurray. The role involves reading blueprints, diagnosing issues, and ensuring safety standards while working on facilities across our sites.

The position requires Alberta Journeyman certification, 3 years of experience, and the ability to work outdoors in all conditions.

Qualifications

• Certified Alberta Journeyman in the carpentry trade.
• Three (3) years of journeyperson experience.
• Experience in municipal operations or dual tickets is an asset.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform layout work.

Responsibilities

• Measures, cuts, shapes and finishes materials with hand and power tools.
• Builds and erects forms and pouring chutes for concrete.
• Repairs roofing surfaces and installs flashing and waterproofing.
• Cuts, fits plastic in door/window frames and structures.
• Maintains facility log books and conducts inspections.
• Responds to issues and troubleshoots municipal assets.
