Job summary

Grindstone Theatre is seeking three part-time Festival Technicians to join our summer crew in Edmonton. The Festival Technician will assist with set up and strike for all Grindstone Festivals, and operate sound/lighting boards and multimedia equipment for live shows, including the Edmonton Fringe Festival.

The role requires a focus on safety, customer service, and on-site problem-solving, with duties including seating guests and answering questions about performances.

Qualifications

• Must be able to set up and strike festival sites safely.
• Experience with temporary sound and lighting systems is preferred.
• Strong customer service and on-site problem-solving skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with set up and strike for Grindstone Festivals.
• Operate sound/lighting boards and multimedia equipment during performances.
• Ensure festival site safety and report issues to Technical Director.
• Provide staff and patron assistance, answer questions about performances.

Grindstone Theatre is seeking three part-time Festival Technicians to join our summer crew! The Festival Technician (FT) will assist with set up and strike for each of the Grindstone Festivals including Pride (June 2-4), Comedy Fest (July 5-9), Disco in the Park (August 3-7), Fringe (August 12-28) and Mural Massive (September 8-10). The FT will also operate the sound/lighting boards and other multimedia equipment for any live shows during the festivals, in particular The Edmonton Fringe Festival.

The FT will ensure the festival site is in safe working conditions and will report any issues to the Technical Director. The FT will provide excellent customer service to patrons of the Grindstone Theatre Festivals and will scan and seat guests upon arrival as well as answer any questions about the performance as necessary. If you are passionate about theatre arts, have a background in Technical Theatre and are able to manage and solve problems on the fly – we think you would be a great fit!
