Theatre Alberta seeks a collaborative pianist/assistant choir director for the Youth Singers of Calgary's KIDS & MUSIC program. You will accompany Grade 2 rehearsals and assist a Grade 3/4 rehearsal weekly, with potential to expand into teaching the right candidate.

The role is an hourly contract position requiring warmth, patience, and the ability to engage children while keeping lessons fun and focused.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children
• Able to sing and model harmonies for a group of kids

Responsabilités

• Accompany and support all rehearsals, workshops and concerts for the Grade 2 KIDS & MUSIC class, and accompany a Grade 3 / 4 rehearsal weekly
• Support all four Kids & Music Groups (Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2) in Christmas and Year-End recitals
• Have a general knowledge of vocal and piano music to support the children by singing as directed
• Be pleasant, kind, gentle, and caring around children
• Be prepared to substitute teach a class should the Director be ill or absent

Collaborative Pianist/Assistant Choir Director Needed – Contract Position

The Youth Singers of Calgary’s KIDS & MUSIC Program is seeking a dynamic, energetic, talented and empathetic musician to accompany our Grade 2 program. This position has the potential to expand into a teaching role as well, for the right candidate. The successful candidate will work well as part of a dynamic and energetic team, understand that working with children means every lesson is a new adventure, and have as much fun as possible in every lesson.

Qualifications:

• Experience and aptitude for working with young children
• Comfortable singing and can model singing well – including harmonies

Responsibilities:

• Accompany and support all rehearsals, workshops and concerts for the Grade 2 KIDS & MUSIC class, and accompany a Grade 3 / 4 rehearsal weekly
• Support all four Kids & Music Groups (Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2) in our Christmas and Year-End recitals
• Have a general knowledge of the vocal as well as the piano music assigned, so they may support the children by singing as directed
• Be pleasant, kind, gentle, and caring around children
• Be prepared to substitute teach a class should the Director be ill or absent

Contract Commitment:

• Weekly class times: Thursdays 5:00 – 7:00 pm and Saturdays 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
• Choreo Workshops: Saturday afternoon workshops—February 8, March 8, April 12,
• Year End Presentation: April 26, 1pm – 4:30pm

All rehearsals take place at the ATCO Performing Arts Centre, 1371 Hastings Cres SE

Hourly pay, with compensation to be decided
