We're seeking an accomplished accounting professional with specialized expertise in technical accounting standards to join our leadership team. With your 7+ years of progressive experience from Big 4 or public company environments, you'll take ownership of complex ASC applications (815, 810, 470, 606), oversee precise SEC reporting (10-K/Q filings), and drive continuous improvement across our financial systems including SAP/Oracle and other platforms.

TalentWorld is recruiting a Technical Accounting Manager (Oil & Gas) in Calgary, Alberta for one of our clients.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical accounting subject matter expert (ASC 815/810/470/606) and lead SEC reporting (10-K/Q).
• Ensure compliance with oil & gas regulations (FERC, EPA, SOX) – non-negotiable requirement.
• Oversee hedge accounting and operations (pipelines, storage, trading).
• Optimize ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and automate reporting (Power BI, Tableau).
• Present to executives, mentor staff, and support M&A/purchase accounting.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 4+ years in technical accounting (Big 4/public company background preferred).
• Oil & Gas industry experience preferred.
• SEC reporting expertise (10-K/Q, MD&A, footnotes) and US GAAP.
• Commodity trading/hedge accounting and regulatory compliance (FERC, EPA, SOX).
• SAP, Oracle (required).
• Executive-level presentation skills.
• Team leadership and mentoring experience.
• Process improvement and system implementation track record.
• Active CPA license is a must.
• Additional certifications (CMA, CFA, or CIA) are a strong plus.

Employment Details

• Salary: $110k - $140K
