Job summary

TekStaff IT Solutions’ client in Scarborough, ON is seeking a Java Full Stack Developer for an 8.5-month contract in a hybrid role (2 days in-office). The ideal candidate has 8+ years of full-stack experience, strong Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Angular/React, and solid cloud, Docker and Kubernetes skills.

The position features a 7.5-hour day, mandatory background checks, and potential holiday leave arrangements as determined by the client.

Job Description

This is a 8.5 month contract located in ON - Scarborough / Hybrid (2 days in-office)

Please note - This is a 7.5 hour work day.

All successful candidates will be subject to a mandatory credit AND criminal check as per the client.

Please note that all contractors are subject to a possible Holiday Leave program schedule, set by the client.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices.
• Develop and deploy cloud-native solutions utilizing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Integrate applications with enterprise systems, databases, messaging platforms, and third-party services.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Refinement, Daily Stand-Ups, and Retrospectives.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, and release management activities.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable solutions while adhering to security, compliance, and operational standards.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills

• 8+ years of Full stack development experience.
• 5+ years of Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Spring Boot, Spring Security, Hibernate/JPA
  • RESTful APIs and Microservices Architecture
  • Angular and/or React
  • SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Git, CI/CD, and Agile delivery practices
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Nice-To-Have Skills

• Banking or financial services experience.
• Experience with Kafka, Pub/Sub, Event-Driven Architecture, and API security frameworks (OAuth2, JWT).
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or Grafana.
• Cloud certifications and experience working in large-scale enterprise environments.
