Synechron is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our global engineering team in Montreal. You will develop robust Java applications, integrate front-end UI with server-side logic, and build scalable microservices within an Agile environment.

The role requires 8+ years in Java, experience with ETL, React, and strong knowledge of MVC, data structures, and databases. The company offers a hybrid model and exposure to leading financial institutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in Java development with strong core Java skills.
• Experience with ETL and React is required.
• Knowledge of MVC, data structures, algorithms and design patterns.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (SQL, MongoDB).

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Senior Java Developer to join our dynamic, global engineering team. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, ever-evolving environments and is passionate about technology solutions, have experience in ETL. This role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders, developers, external vendors, and other teams across geographically dispersed teams and contribute to ongoing and new initiatives within an Agile framework.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Montreal, QC is CAD$100k - $110k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Write, modify, integrate, and test robust and scalable software code for web applications using Java, react, Spring Framework, and Apache.
• Collaborate with other team members to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Implement and maintain microservices architectures that are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
• Optimize application performance, focusing on speed and scalability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, following best practices for software development.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with the team.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, business analysts, and QA engineers
• Troubleshoot and debug issues in existing applications, providing timely and effective resolutions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and tools.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering
• Very strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• 8+ years of experience in Java development
• Experience with ETL
• Core Java experience in developing complex applications
• Experience with React
• Very strong knowledge of software design principles: MVC, data structures, graph data, algorithms, design patterns, multithreading, caching, recursion
• Strong knowledge of core Java: class loading, garbage collection, Java collections API, Reflections API
• Java Streams and Functional Programming
• Strong knowledge of Non-Relational Databases and No-SQL (Mongo DB)
• Strong Knowledge of Relational Databases and SQL

Preferred, but not required:

• Banking especially Capital markets domain
