Job summary

Synechron Canada is seeking a seasoned Java Backend Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain scalable server-side applications using Java and Spring. You will craft RESTful APIs, build microservices, and optimize performance across cloud platforms, while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires 5+ years in Java back-end development, strong Spring expertise, and hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Java back-end development.
• Strong expertise in Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security).
• Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools.
• Proficiency with Git and agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a plus.

Our challenge

We are seeking a highly motivated Java Backend Developer, candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable server-side applications using Java and the Spring ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, databases, and Agile development practices.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Calgary, AB is CAD $85k – CAD $95k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications using Java and Spring/Spring Boot frameworks.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred, but not required:

• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging technologies.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT.
• Familiarity with API gateways and service discovery.
• Experience with JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, or WireMock.
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, or New Relic.
• Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, Clean Architecture, or twelve-factor application principles.
• Experience working on high-volume, high-availability, or financial services applications.
