Job summary

Synechron seeks an experienced Senior Developer (Java / Python / AWS) to build automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native deployments. You will collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure scalable, secure software delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development and DevOps.
  • Experience working in AWS cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and microservices-based applications.
  • Hands-on experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of DevOps methodologies and software release management processes.
  • Experience troubleshooting deployment and environment-related issues.
  • Familiarity with source control and version management platforms.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications and automation solutions using Java and Python.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Developer (Java / Python / AWS) with a strong software engineering background and hands‑on expertise in cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and deployment automation. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing automation frameworks, creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, supporting cloud‑native application deployments, and troubleshooting production deployment issues.

This role requires a combination of software development, DevOps, and operational support experience. The ideal candidate should be comfortable collaborating with application development teams, infrastructure teams, and security teams to ensure seamless and secure software delivery.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is $110k - $115k/year & benefits (see below).

Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Automation
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications and automation solutions using Java and Python.
  • Build reusable frameworks and utilities to streamline software development and deployment processes.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools to improve release efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Participate in application modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
  • Design, deploy, and support applications running on AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Utilize AWS services to build secure, scalable, and highly available cloud-native solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to AWS best practices related to performance, resilience, security, and cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and architecture teams on cloud platform enhancements.
  • Design, build, enhance, and support CI/CD pipelines for application deployment and release management.
  • Create deployment workflows using tools such as:

  • Monitor pipeline performance and continuously improve deployment efficiency.
Production Support & Troubleshooting
  • Investigate and resolve deployment failures across development, QA, staging, and production environments.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to application teams during releases.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to minimize recurring issues.
  • Support platform stability and ensure timely resolution of production incidents.
DevOps & Release Management
  • Promote DevOps best practices across the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Work closely with development, QA, operations, and security teams to improve deployment reliability.
  • Implement automated release and rollback strategies.
  • Maintain source code repositories, branching strategies, and release governance processes.
Security & Compliance (Optional - Understanding/exposure is good)
  • Integrate security controls and vulnerability scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Work with security tools such as:

  • Other application security and vulnerability scanning tools
  • Assist in remediation of identified vulnerabilities and compliance findings.
Containerization & Infrastructure Automation
  • Support containerized application deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Contribute to Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives utilizing Terraform.
  • Participate in platform automation and cloud infrastructure provisioning.
Required Qualifications
