Duties: Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position will be responsible for providing operational human resources support in occupational health and safety and staffing and may provide advice related to classification, labour relations, learning, disability management, or human resource planning. We are also looking for someone who has the drive and ability to work both independently and in collaboration with their other members of Parks Canada’s team. This includes working with different departments within the Jasper Field Unit, as well as across other field units and national office. This role requires someone with the ability to distill complex and complicated information and processes into simple and practical terms for client groups and stakeholders. Strong communication, interpersonal skills and ability to lead through influence are important to succeeding in this role.

This process will be used to staff one temporary position on‑location in Jasper National Park for one year. Positions to be filled: 1.
Reliability Status security clearance - All employees of the Federal Government are required to meet Reliability Status; details of the screening process and applications will be provided at the time of interviews. Learn more about security screening process. Possession and maintenance of a valid class 5 driver’s license (Class L, N or other graduated licenses will not be accepted). Operational Requirements: Willingness to work weekends, shift work, statutory holidays and overtime if required. Willingness to travel and work in a variety of climatic and geographical conditions to various work sites. Willingness to wear identifier clothing and use safety equipment and follow safety procedures.
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post‑secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organisational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed; or Certification as Chartered Professionals in Human Resources; or Graduation with a degree from a recognized post‑secondary institution with acceptable experience in human resources. An acceptable combination of education, training and experience, that is comparable to a degree from a recognised posted secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed, may serve as an alternative to meet the minimum education standard. Grandparenting Clause: Indeterminate and term incumbents of positions in the PE group in Parks Canada Agency and the Public Service on or before October 3, 2008, and who do not possess the education level prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. Experience providing advice and recommendations to management in the following HR disciplines: staffing, labour relations, occupational health and safety, disability management, classification, or HR Planning. Experience providing advice and guidance to managers in a unionised, operational environment. Experience managing competing priorities and deadlines in an operational environment. Applied / assessed at a later date.

Experience preparing and/or delivering training sessions or presentations. Experience with the staffing process and procedures within the federal public service. Experience in applying policies, procedures and/or legislation related to Human Resources.
