Elk Valley Resources (EVR) offers a cooperative education role in the Elk Valley, BC, focusing on Human Resources within mine operations and maintenance teams. You will support recruitment, pre-employment steps, and onboarding while gaining practical HR experience in a major mining operation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with an HR concentration.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License preferred.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills; maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Experience with HR programs/software would be an asset.

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
• Support the application of Human Resources policies and procedures.
• Assist with recruitment of hourly positions for mine operations and maintenance teams.
• Sort and categorize applications, conduct pre-screens and schedule interviews.
• Assist with completion of pre-employment requirements, including reference checks, drug testing, offer letters and onboarding.
• Assist with career fairs/info sessions.
• Collaborate on research and report writing for the HR department.
• Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to improve business processes.

In this role, you will:

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources
• A valid Class 5 Driver's License or extra-provincial equivalent, without learner's restrictions is preferred
• Motivated self-starter; able to prioritize work under pressure and show great attention to detail while maintaining confidentiality and a high level of professionalism
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts to multidisciplinary teams
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
• Experience with HR programs/software would be an asset
