Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking a motivated student in Occupational Hygiene for a 4, 8 or 12 month internship starting January 2027 at our Elk Valley operations in British Columbia. You will apply academic knowledge to real mining operations, track data and assist with project timelines while learning from seasoned professionals.

Ques/Edu: pursuing undergrad/grad degree in Occupational Hygiene or related field, with strong communication, data analysis and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

  • Working toward an Undergraduate/Graduate degree or diploma in Occupational Hygiene, Occupational and Environmental Health or Industrial Hygiene.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent preferred.
  • Motivated self-starter able to manage several projects with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions at mining operations.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient data tracking and analysis with ability to manage timelines.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Word and Excel; working knowledge of PowerPoint and Access.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Experience in mining or heavy industry is an asset.

Requirements
  • Working towards an Undergraduate/Graduate degree or diploma in Occupational Hygiene, Occupational and Environmental Health or Industrial Hygiene
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License or extra-provincial equivalent, without learner's restrictions is preferred
  • Motivated self-starters, able to work under minimal supervision and be able to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic work environment with a willingness to work outdoors and able to operate vehicles, at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to track and analyze data as well as manage project timelines
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel is necessary, and a working knowledge of PowerPoint and Access
  • Impeccable record keeping and excellent organizational skills
  • Experience working in mining or heavy industry considered an asset

Salary Range: $4,117 - $5,192 CAD / Month

Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
