Job summary

IEM Canada, (Industrial Electric Manufacturing, Inc.) in Surrey, BC, is seeking a detail-oriented janitor to support offices and production areas with routine cleaning and special projects.

You will perform heavy cleaning, restroom service, dusting, waste removal, and set up for events; lifting up to 35 pounds and following safety procedures. Weekend or early/late shifts required.

Qualifications

• 1-year janitorial experience & excellent references required.
• Physically fit and capable of lifting up to 35 pounds.
• Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical cleaners and equipment.
• Willingness to work weekends, early mornings or late night shifts.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and take direction.

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and shampooing rugs.
• Clean and service restrooms with mops and disinfectant.
• Keep areas neat and dust furniture and surfaces.
• Follow safety procedures for chemical cleaners and equipment.
• Set up and remove decorations and furniture for events; manage routine upkeep of exterior areas.

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Compensation: $19.00/hour
Shift: Day 7:30am- 4:00pm; Evening Shift 4:00pm- 12:30am (10% shift premium)

We are currently seeking energetic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Janitor. The ideal candidate for the position is detail-oriented, flexible and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as the need arises.

You will be responsible for cleaning offices and production areas. This will include but not limited to:

• Perform heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass
• Clean and service restrooms with mops and disinfectant
• Keep areas neat and tidy; dust furniture and clean surfaces
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, clean the warehousefloor.
• Manage routine upkeep of exterior areas, parking lot
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
• Recycling cardboard, removing damaged wood into bin, removing trash.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualified candidates must possess:

• 1-year janitorial experience & excellent references are required
• Physically fit and capable of lifting or moving objects up to 35 pounds as necessary
• Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
• Willingness to work weekends, early mornings or late night shifts
• Ability to work under minimal supervision
• Capacity to take direction
• Strong attention to detail
