Job summary

School District No. 78 (Fraser-Cascade) is seeking a District Counsellor (Itinerant) to work with the Inclusive Education Team and school-based teams to improve student learning and well‑being.

The role includes providing mental health supports, collaborating with Indigenous students and families on reserve, and promoting safe and inclusive schools. The counsellor will lead district initiatives in mental health, supervise District Child & Youth Care Workers, and work flexible hours to meet

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counselling Psychology or equivalent.
• Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent.
• two years satisfactory teaching experience.
• valid B.C. Teaching Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct counselling to students and support to their families.
• Provide leadership to all staff in the area of mental health.
• Act as an advocate for the students and their parents.
• Collaborate with school based Integrated Child and Youth (ICY) Clinical Counsellor at each site.
• Support schools dealing with issues regarding student safety and well-being and assist in safety plans.
