Job Description

We are hiring an IT Technologist to support the Maritime Helicopter Training Simulator (MHTS) at the Fumerton-Bing Training Centre in Shearwater. The MHTS trains RCAF Pilots, TACCOs, SENSO personnel, and Maintenance Personnel for the Maritime Helicopter.

The IT Technologist will maintain MHTS equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform system upgrades. This full-time role offers benefits, primarily onsite at FBTC, with a base in Dartmouth.

The responsibilities include :

• Supporting system installation, checkout, and demonstrations.
• Providing ongoing technical support, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Performing routine maintenance, backups, inspections, and upgrades.
• Configuring hardware and software, supporting training, and coordinating with customers.
• Representing maintenance needs to support groups.
• Updating manuals, parts lists, and documentation.
• Maintaining computers, test equipment, and cabling.
• Working occasional out-of-schedule hours as needed.
• Supporting the Life Cycle Maintenance Manager.
• Flexibility to work shifts from 6 : 00 a.m. to midnight, Monday to Friday, with possible outside hours.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The candidate should have :

• 4-6 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of installing and configuring computer hardware and peripherals.
• Experience with Linux and Windows OS, including Windows XP and Server 2008, and RAID systems.
• Understanding of networking protocols (TCP / IP, RS232, USB).
• Certification such as MRC or equivalent.
• Familiarity with switches, routers, UPS, and peripherals.
• Troubleshooting skills for diagnostic tools and OS functions.
• Effective communication skills and adaptability.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including outside scheduled times.
• Ability to work at sites outside GDMS-C control if required.

Assets include familiarity with Airborne Mission Systems, simulators, and MIL-STD systems.

Applicants must be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program, able to obtain security clearance, and eligible to work in Canada.
