Job summary

CAE is seeking an IT System Architecture Specialist to design and maintain enterprise-level IT solutions across the Canada region. You will lead architectural sessions, ensure security and regulatory compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable systems in hybrid environments.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in IT architecture, strong cloud experience (Azure/AWS), and proficiency with APIs, ESB, and microservices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in IT architecture, solution architecture, or systems design.
• TOGAF, Zachman, or equivalent framework experience.
• Cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
• Knowledge of virtualization, networking, and enterprise infrastructure.
• Experience with integration technologies and patterns (APIs, ESB, microservices).
• Knowledge of security architecture, cybersecurity controls, and compliance.
• DevOps practices and CI/CD familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise architecture standards, frameworks, and guidelines.
• Design end-to-end technology solutions integrating apps, data, and infrastructure.
• Ensure solutions meet security, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
• Lead design sessions and provide architectural guidance across projects.
• Collaborate with analysts, developers, PMs, and stakeholders to deliver solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and advise on adoption strategies.
• Define integration patterns across hybrid on-prem and cloud environments.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Support monitoring, continuity, and disaster recovery planning.
• Incorporate Government cybersecurity principles into designs.

Description

The IT System Architecture Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level IT solutions that support business objectives and technology strategies across CAE's Defense & Security Canada Region.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain enterprise architecture standards, frameworks, and guidelines.
• Design end-to-end technology solutions that integrate applications, data, and infrastructure components.
• Ensure architecture solutions comply with security, regulatory, operational, and organizational requirements.
• Lead technical design sessions and provide architectural guidance throughout project lifecycles.
• Collaborate with business analysts, developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver technology solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations regarding adoption and implementation strategies.
• Define integration patterns and architecture approaches across hybrid environments, including on-premises and cloud-based platforms.
• Identify opportunities to improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Support the development and implementation of monitoring, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Incorporate Government of Canada cybersecurity principles and requirements into architecture designs.
• Support adherence to data protection, privacy, and information security standards.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders and IT leadership.
• Communicate technical concepts, recommendations, and risks to technical and non-technical audiences.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT architecture, solution architecture, systems design, or a related discipline
• Experience developing and implementing enterprise architecture solutions in complex technology environments
• Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or equivalent
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Knowledge of virtualization, networking, and enterprise infrastructure technologies
• Experience with integration technologies and architectural patterns, including APIs, enterprise service bus (ESB), and microservices
• Knowledge of security architecture principles, cybersecurity controls, and compliance requirements
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD methodologies
• Experience supporting Flight Operations and/or Flight Training environments
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience working within regulated environments supporting government, defense, aerospace, or security-related programs.
• Experience leading enterprise architecture initiatives across large organizations.
• Professional certifications such as:
  • TOGAF
  • Microsoft Azure Architect
  • AWS Solutions Architect
  • CISSP
  • ITIL

Base Pay Range

Our total rewards package includes base pay and benefits, with final compensation determined by experience, skill, location, and internal equity.

$107,500 - $157,500 CAD
