We are seeking a highly skilled IT Support Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 3 years of experience in IT Support, with expertise in hardware, software, and troubleshooting. This role is based in Kimberly.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Installation, maintenance, and support of all hardware and software.
- Capture and maintain all IT assets in the ICT inventory database and dispatch the IT equipment to the user as per written request.
- Install and maintain all desktop hardware.
- Install and maintain desktop software.
- Install and maintain all computer peripherals.
- Liaise with external providers for hardware support.
- Identify common problem areas experienced to recommend corrective action.
- Decide whether to send the computer to the manufacturer for repair.
- Report shortfalls in parts inventory to line manager.
- Work with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software.
- Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems, including validation systems, file servers, email servers, conferencing systems, application servers, and administrative systems.
- Provide user support and initial training on equipment and software.
- Assist users in the use of computer software if requested.
- Document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
- Forward faulty computers to the workshop.
- Communicate project statuses to the helpdesk.
- Coordinate and liaise with the ICT team.
- User education on network security and vulnerabilities.
- Assist users in scanning media for malicious content.
- Help users with suspicious emails and ensure endpoint security is up to date.
- Develop how-to documentation and videos to support the community.
- Research technology trends and applicable technologies.
- Develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
- Participate in ICT projects for successful execution.
- Assist with project scoping and resource allocation.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report operational metrics.
- Research and implement best practices.
- Communicate and consult with stakeholders.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in ICT.
- Willing to work outside of normal hours.
- 2 to 3 years of related experience.
- Experience with LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and Microsoft/Linux environments.
- Experience with major hardware vendors such as HP and DELL.
