Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Support Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 3 years of experience in IT Support, with expertise in hardware, software, and troubleshooting. This role is based in Kimberly.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Installation, maintenance, and support of all hardware and software.
  2. Capture and maintain all IT assets in the ICT inventory database and dispatch the IT equipment to the user as per written request.
  3. Install and maintain all desktop hardware.
  4. Install and maintain desktop software.
  5. Install and maintain all computer peripherals.
  6. Liaise with external providers for hardware support.
  7. Identify common problem areas experienced to recommend corrective action.
  8. Decide whether to send the computer to the manufacturer for repair.
  9. Report shortfalls in parts inventory to line manager.
  10. Work with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software.
  11. Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems, including validation systems, file servers, email servers, conferencing systems, application servers, and administrative systems.
  12. Provide user support and initial training on equipment and software.
  13. Assist users in the use of computer software if requested.
  14. Document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
  15. Forward faulty computers to the workshop.
  16. Communicate project statuses to the helpdesk.
  17. Coordinate and liaise with the ICT team.
  18. User education on network security and vulnerabilities.
  19. Assist users in scanning media for malicious content.
  20. Help users with suspicious emails and ensure endpoint security is up to date.
  21. Develop how-to documentation and videos to support the community.
  22. Research technology trends and applicable technologies.
  23. Develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
  24. Participate in ICT projects for successful execution.
  25. Assist with project scoping and resource allocation.
  26. Monitor, evaluate, and report operational metrics.
  27. Research and implement best practices.
  28. Communicate and consult with stakeholders.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in ICT.
  • Willing to work outside of normal hours.
  • 2 to 3 years of related experience.
  • Experience with LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and Microsoft/Linux environments.
  • Experience with major hardware vendors such as HP and DELL.
