Job summary

The YMCA of Simcoe Muskoka is seeking an IT Specialist to serve as the primary escalation point for complex issues and to maintain, optimize, and secure our IT infrastructure across locations. You will lead advanced troubleshooting, support enterprise-wide initiatives, and contribute to cybersecurity efforts.

You will provide advanced support for Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint and Teams, while overseeing server environments (on-prem and cloud) and ensuring data

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary education in IT, CS or related field.
  • MCSE and CCNA or equivalent certifications are an asset.
  • 5+ years progressive IT support, systems administration or infrastructure experience.
  • Experience as Tier 2 escalation or senior technical resource.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Experience with network infrastructure (switching, firewall, wireless).
  • Endpoint security and reporting tools familiarity.
  • PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
  • Backup solutions and disaster recovery planning familiarity.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks and security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the IT Specialist escalation point for complex issues.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting across desktop, server, network and cloud environments.
  • Lead root cause analysis for recurring issues.
  • Oversee IT ticket queues to meet service levels.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Exchange, SharePoint and Teams.
  • Troubleshoot VoIP, firewall appliances, switches and wireless infra.
  • Administer on-premise and cloud server environments.
  • Maintain Active Directory, group policies and permissions governance.
  • Ensure data integrity, security and compliance with best practices.
  • Develop cybersecurity policies and standards and monitor security alerts.
  • Collaborate with IT team and management on PCI compliance initiatives.
  • Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, migrations and cloud adoption projects.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and SOPs.

Job description

Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Specialist serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues and plays a key role inmaintaining,optimizing, and securing the YMCA of Simcoe Muskoka’s IT infrastructure.

This role provides advanced technical support, leads system improvements, supports enterprise-wide technology initiativesandIT operations across all Association locations.

The IT Specialist will provide technical support to staff while also contributing to long-term infrastructure planning, cybersecurity initiatives, and overall systems optimization.

  • Co-lead implementation ofnew technologyinitiatives
  • Participate in infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, and cloud adoption projects
  • Develop and implement technical solutions with minimal supervision
  • Troubleshootwith vendors and third-party(ISPs)service providers
  • Evaluate and recommend system improvements and emerging technologies
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Develop andmaintaintechnical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
  • Improve IT service workflows and support processes
  • Maintain licensing records, hardware inventory, and asset management systems
  • Provide technical training and mentorship tothe IT Help Deskstaff
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for product installations and configurations
  • Configure and deploy computers, peripherals, and mobile devices across locations
  • Provide guidance and instruction on proper use of hardware and software applications
  • Support cellular device management and MDM platforms
  • Perform other IT Systems and support duties asrequired

You bring:
  • Post-Secondary education in IT, Computer Science, or related field
  • MCSE and CCNA or other related certifications are an asset.
  • 5+ years’ progressive experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure roles
  • Experience serving as Tier 2 escalation or senior technical resource
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Network infrastructure (switching,firewall, wireless systems)
  • Endpoint security and reporting tools
  • Familiar withPowerShell scripting and automation
  • Experience with backup solutions and disaster recovery planning
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and security standards
  • Experience with IT ticketing/service desk systems
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Valid Class G driver’s license and insured personal vehicle
  • Willingness to participate in mandated training to be completed before or shortly after

commencement of work including:
