Job summary

Inpho seeks an IT Manager to lead our technology infrastructure and data security as we scale. This hands-on role will build the function from the ground up across multi-site operations (Canada, US, Europe) and partner with engineering to support EDA and HPC environments.

You will recruit and lead a small IT team, manage budgets and vendor contracts, and enforce cybersecurity, backup, and data protection policies while enabling fast growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 8+ years IT experience, with ≥3 years in a management role.
• Experience in a start-up or high-tech engineering / high growth environment.
• Experience with secure Windows Cloud Environments, Windows Server, Windows 10/11, MS365, ERP (Epicor preferred).
• Strong cybersecurity, backup, and data protection compliance experience.
• Ability to assess IT needs and build and lead a team to deliver.
• Knowledge of EDA workflows, Linux cluster management, Mac OS, and SQL databases is desirable.

• Deploy new user accounts and laptops; troubleshoot Windows Cloud PC connections.
• Reset passwords and manage account access; track and resolve tickets.
• Manage hardware refreshes and coordinate with suppliers.

Our new class of electro-photonic chips is poised to disrupt the optical interconnect market — enabling lower-cost builds of existing systems, new architectures with significantly higher price/performance, and a new generation of high-speed interconnects that haven't been possible until now.

About the Role

We're looking for an IT Manager to lead our technology infrastructure and data security as we scale. This is a hands-on role: you'll be building the function from the ground up, doing the day-to-day IT work yourself in the early days while you build and lead the team around you. You'll work across a multisite environment (Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Calgary, United States, Europe, and Asia) spanning different time zones, and partner closely with engineering to support our Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and lead a small, talented IT support and systems team.
• Define, plan, and manage IT infrastructure, cloud services, and local office networks, scaling for fast growth.
• Support EDA tool environments and HPC clusters.
• Manage IT budgets, vendor contracts, and hardware/software licensing.
• Support ERP rollout, integration, customizations and maintenance.
• Respond to incoming IT helpdesk support requests and provide timely resolution to issues.
• Define, maintain and enforce strong cybersecurity, backup, and data protection compliance policies. Provide ongoing training and support to staff members.
• Work across SharePoint, MS365, Epicor Kinetics and Salesforce environments.

Additional Hands-On Responsibilities (Until the Team Is Built Out)

• Deploy new user accounts and laptops.
• Troubleshoot Windows 365 Cloud PC connection and performance issues.
• Reset passwords and manage account access.
• Assign licenses and guide users on setup.
• Track and resolve support tickets via our helpdesk system.
• Manage hardware refreshes and repairs and coordinate with hardware suppliers on warranty issues and purchasing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 8+ years of IT experience, including at least 3 years in a management role.
• Experience in a start-up or high-tech engineering and/or high growth environment.
• Experience with secure Windows Cloud Environments, Windows Server, Windows 10/11, MS365, ERPs (Epicor preferred).
• Strong cybersecurity, backup, and data protection compliance experience.
• Ability and experience successfully assessing an organization's IT needs and building a team to deliver on those requirements.
• Knowledge of EDA workflows, Linux cluster management, Mac OS, and SQL databases is highly desirable.

The expected compensation range for this position is CAD$90,000 - $115,000 annually. Actual compensation offered for this position will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's skills, level, experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
