City of St. Albert is seeking a Director of Information Technology to provide strategic and operational leadership for the IT Department.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Corporate and Emergency Services / CFO, the director sets technology strategy, governance, and a portfolio of initiatives aligned with Council priorities and regulatory requirements. The role emphasizes collaboration across the organization, risk management, digital transformation, and continuous improvement, with a hybrid

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related discipline; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 10 years IT experience with 5+ years in municipal or public sector IT leadership.
• Diploma may be accepted with 15 years related experience.
• Professional certifications in PM, IT governance, or change management are assets.
• Experience with IT governance, portfolio management and major project delivery.
• Broad knowledge of enterprise technology including cloud, cybersecurity and DR.
• Strong executive leadership skills to lead managers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the City's Information Technology Department.
• Lead enterprise technology, information management and digital transformation strategies.
• Advise Executive Leadership and Council on technology, cybersecurity, information management, business continuity, digital transformation and emerging technologies.
• Oversee the City's technology investment and project portfolio, including major technology acquisitions, implementations and modernization initiatives.
• Direct departmental operations, workforce planning, budgeting, resource allocation and service delivery, while fostering a high-performing, accountable and customer-focused culture.
• Build strong relationships across the organization to ensure technology services, investments and priorities align with business needs.
