Job summary

IMP Aerospace & Defence is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure professional to maintain reliable services across the organization in Canada. You will oversee server administration, deploy new technologies, and drive IT initiatives with a collaborative team.

The role requires a degree in Computer Science or related IT qualifications and at least 7 years of server administration experience, plus strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Position Overview

The IT Infrastructure position supports the IT Manager – Infrastructure in maintaining reliable and effective IT services across the organization. The role provides technical support, monitors infrastructure health, coordinates day-to-day operations, and contributes to departmental projects and technology initiatives. It also supports staff training and the implementation and effective use of new and existing technologies.

What You Will Do
  • Implement and help to Identify new technologies that will benefit the department and meet departmental goals.
  • Provide support to the other IT Coordinators when they need assistance.
  • Create documentation and train the IT Coordinators how to use and maintain new technologies.
  • Ensure the use of best practices and that departmental processes are followed.
  • Identify risks or problem areas and work to find a solution.
  • Timely response and resolution of Service Desk requests. Manage request through to resolution or escalate as required.
  • Support and monitor existing infrastructure, perform preventative maintenance work, backup and perform other regular support activities as required.
  • Work effectively in a team environment by openly sharing information, ideas, or concerns and giving constructive feedback to help ensure the team is successful.
  • Adhere to IT administrative directives as per ADs and other associated company procedures.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and support agencies for the ongoing support and maintenance of relevant hardware and software.
  • Ensure that all work and changes are performed in such a way as to minimize all disruption to existing business use.
  • Build effective working relationships with local and corporate IT support, as well as business line personnel.

What You Will Bring
  • Degree in Computer Science, Diploma in IT System Administration, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in server administration.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Advanced Knowledge of VMware and Windows Server.
  • Experience with Windows AD Domain Controller and group policy administration.
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
  • Knowledge of NIST cyber security framework or similar would be an asset.
  • Excellent customer service skills, striving to improve services to meet customer and business needs.
  • Demonstrates initiative in looking for root causes and takes on new responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 8S activities in your area. Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Transport Canada security clearances.
  • The successful applicants will be eligible to meet requirements for the U.S. International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Applicant must be able to pass and maintain a Level II (Secret) security clearance with the Department of National Defense.
