Job summary

Durham Community Health Centre (DCHC) invites applications for an IT and Cybersecurity Services Lead to oversee technology operations, safety, and data protection across multiple sites in Durham Region.

Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure Management & Operations, you will coordinate endpoint, server, network, cloud services, and work with MSPs to strengthen cybersecurity maturity, incident response, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, information technology, or cybersecurity.
• 3–5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience supporting Windows environments and Microsoft 365 applications.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate installation, deployment, maintenance and lifecycle management of laptops, desktops, servers, and networking equipment.
• Provide escalated on-site support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Maintain technology asset inventories, conduct audits, and manage supplies.
• Support onboarding/offboarding activities, including device provisioning and access management.
• Assist with procurement, configuration, and deployment of technology equipment and software.
• Develop and maintain IT documentation, SOPs, and knowledge-base resources.
• Support cloud migration initiatives and technology improvement projects.
• Coordinate technology setup for organizational events and meetings.

Position Overview

At Durham Community Health Centre (DCHC), we are committed to building healthier communities through accessible, high-quality healthcare services. As our technology environment continues to evolve, we are seeking an IT and Cybersecurity Services Coordinator to help ensure our systems, infrastructure, and information assets remain secure, reliable, and aligned with the needs of our staff, clients, and communities.

This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging IT professional with a strong interest in cybersecurity to play a key role in supporting technology operations, digital transformation initiatives, and cybersecurity maturity across a multi-site healthcare organization. The position supports endpoint management, infrastructure operations, cyber risk mitigation, identity and access management, incident response coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure and Operations within the Corporate Services portfolio, the IT and Cybersecurity Services Coordinator supports the secure, reliable, and efficient operation of DCHC's technology environment.

The successful candidate will coordinate the installation, maintenance, lifecycle management, and security of endpoints, servers, network connectivity, cloud services, and related IT assets. The role acts as an internal liaison with DCHC's Managed Service Provider (MSP), supports cybersecurity monitoring and response activities, maintains technology and security records, and contributes to projects that strengthen organizational resilience, privacy, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations and User Support

• Coordinate the installation, deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle management of laptops, desktops, mobile devices, servers, and networking equipment


• Provide escalated on-site support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues


• Maintain technology asset inventories, conduct audits, and manage technology-related supplies


• Support onboarding and offboarding activities, including device provisioning, asset recovery, account coordination, and technology orientation


• Assist with procurement, configuration, and deployment of technology equipment and software


• Develop and maintain IT documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge-base resources


• Support cloud migration initiatives and technology improvement projects


• Coordinate technology setup and support for organizational events and meetings


• Work closely with end users to identify solutions that improve efficiency, service delivery, and user experience

Cybersecurity and Risk Management

• Coordinate day-to-day cybersecurity activities with DCHC's Managed Service Provider and Security Operations Centre


• Review security alerts, track remediation activities, and maintain evidence of issue resolution


• Support cybersecurity incident response processes, documentation, escalation, and communication activities


• Assist with vulnerability management, patch management, endpoint protection, email security, firewall reviews, and security monitoring initiatives


• Support identity and access management processes, including periodic access reviews and joiner-mover-leaver controls


• Monitor endpoint compliance and assist in maintaining secure device configurations


• Coordinate cybersecurity awareness activities, phishing simulations, and employee education initiatives


• Maintain cybersecurity-related logs, inventories, risk registers, incident records, and audit evidence


• Support security and privacy reviews for technology procurements, cloud services, vendors, and new projects


• Assist with business continuity, disaster recovery preparedness, system restoration testing, and tabletop exercises


• Support accreditation, audit, privacy, and regulatory compliance activities relevant to healthcare organizations

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Administration, Cybersecurity, or a related field


• 3-5 years of experience of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience


• Experience supporting Windows environments and Microsoft 365 applications


• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills


• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of customer service


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams


• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles and controls


• Experience working with an MSP, service desk, or security operations environment


• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, and related cloud technologies


• Experience maintaining technical documentation, asset inventories, risk registers, and audit evidence


• Project coordination or project management experience


• Knowledge of Visio or similar documentation tools


• Relevant certifications such as:




• CompTIA Security+


• ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)


• Microsoft Security Certifications


• Other cybersecurity or infrastructure-related certifications

Location

This position supports DCHC's multi-site operations across Durham Region and may be required to travel between locations as operational needs dictate. Working conditions include a combination of office, technical support, and equipment deployment activities, including lifting and moving technology equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted) when required.
