Job summary

Rubicon Organics, based at the Cascadia facility in Hope, BC, seeks an Irrigation, Climate & IPM Lead to oversee daily irrigation, climate, and IPM programs for consistent cultivation outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Lead daily crop scouting and issue reporting identifying pest, disease, irrigation, and environmental risks early; ensure accurate documentation and timely escalation to the Supervisor.
  • Execute and coordinate the IPM spray program according to schedules and supervisor direction, ensuring proper application and product handling.
  • Monitor climate, irrigation, and IPM performance, flag deviations, and provide recommendations for review and approval.
  • Support the development and refinement of irrigation strategies by executing trials, collecting data, and providing feedback on performance.
  • Implement irrigation strategies and setpoints with consistent execution and highlight operational challenges.
  • Prepare and deliver daily and weekly reports summarizing KPIs, issues, actions, and adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot inconsistencies in BMS and irrigation systems, escalating issues for resolution.
  • Maintain data integrity for Climate, Irrigation, and IPM KPIs to support decision-making.
  • Coordinate labor plans for IPM, irrigation, and climate activities, ensuring tasks align with Supervisor priorities.
  • Collaborate with cultivation to align environmental execution with crop steering objectives.
  • Support SOP implementation and flag gaps or opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide continuous feedback on system performance, risks, and yield/quality improvements.

We are looking for an Irrigation, Climate & IPM Lead to oversee the day‑to‑day execution of irrigation, climate, and integrated pest management programs while supporting healthy crop development and consistent cultivation outcomes. The successful candidate has hands‑on experience with irrigation or fertigation systems, climate control platforms (such as Priva or Argus), and IPM programs in a commercial cannabis or horticulture environment. They are detail‑oriented, data‑driven, comfortable using Excel and digital tracking tools, proactive in identifying and troubleshooting issues, physically capable of working in greenhouse conditions, and either hold or are willing to obtain a Pesticide Applicator Certificate. Spanish proficiency is considered an asset. This role is based at our Cascadia facility in Hope, BC, and reports to the Irrigation & Climate Supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily crop scouting and issue reporting identifying pest, disease, irrigation, and
  • environmental risks early; ensure accurate documentation and timely escalation to the
  • Supervisor.
  • Execute and coordinate the IPM spray program according to established schedules and
  • Supervisor direction, ensuring proper application, product handling, and adherence to
  • protocols.
  • Monitor climate, irrigation, and IPM performance flagging deviations from targets and
  • providing informed recommendations to the Supervisor for review and approval.
  • Support the development and refinement of irrigation strategies by executing trials,
  • collecting data, and providing feedback on performance across rooms and zones.
  • Implement irrigation strategies and setpoints as directed, ensuring consistency in execution (shot size, frequency, dryback targets) and highlighting any operational challenges.
  • Prepare and deliver daily and weekly reports summarizing KPIs, observed issues, actions taken, and recommended adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot and identify inconsistencies in BMS and irrigation systems, escalating
  • technical issues and collaborating with maintenance or leadership for resolution.
  • Maintain accurate tracking and data entry for Climate, Irrigation, and IPM KPIs, ensuring
  • data integrity to support decision‑making.
  • Coordinate and execute labor plans for IPM, irrigation, and climate‑related activities,
  • ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and aligned with Supervisor priorities.
  • Collaborate with cultivation team to ensure alignment between environmental execution
  • and crop steering objectives.
  • Support SOP implementation and adherence, ensuring day‑to‑day activities follow
  • established standards and flagging gaps or improvement opportunities.
  • Provide continuous feedback to the Supervisor on system performance, risks, and
  • opportunities to improve yield, quality, and consistency.
  • Other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Experience with irrigation or fertigation systems in cannabis or horticulture settings.
  • Technically minded with basic knowledge of climate control systems (e.g., Priva, Argus).
  • Experience with Integrated Pest Management (IPM), including crop scouting and spray programs.
  • Strong understanding of plant health, pest, disease, and environmental monitoring.
  • Detail‑oriented and data‑driven; proficient in Excel and digital tracking.
  • Physically able and comfortable working around tanks, lines, and in greenhouse conditions.
  • Pesticide Applicator Certificate or willingness to obtain (required).
  • Spanishproficiencyis an asset.
