Job summary

Region of Durham’s Lakeview Manor in Beaverton, Ontario is seeking an IPAC Practitioner on-site five days a week. You will develop, lead and evaluate the infection prevention and control program, perform daily surveillance by collecting and analyzing epidemiologic data, and coordinate responses during outbreaks to safeguard residents.

You will chair the IPAC Committee, maintain immunization records, oversee antibiotic stewardship, and ensure compliance with public health regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degree in health-related field and IPAC course required.
  • CIC certification in infection control required, or eligible to obtain by March 2025.
  • Experience in infection control, preferably in long-term care.
  • Knowledge of PIDAC, LTC Act, and privacy laws.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and evaluate the IPAC program and adhere to best practices.
  • Conduct surveillance by collecting, analyzing and communicating epidemiologic data.
  • Coordinate outbreak response and update plans accordingly.
  • Chair the IPAC Committee and maintain immunization and ASP programs.
  • Report monthly, quarterly and annually on IPAC activities.
