Schedule

Fall Term final examinations take place Friday December 11th to Wednesday December 23th.

Candidates must be able to work Monday to Saturday anywhere from 8:15am to 10:15pm. Examination Invigilators are normally scheduled from 8:15am to 3:15pm or 3:15pm to 10:15pm. Hours are assigned on the basis of need, determined by the number of examinations scheduled and on the availability of the incumbent. Minimum number of work hours cannot be guaranteed. Must be able to commit to working throughout the entire examination period.

Current undergraduate students, graduate students,or McMaster full-time employees are NOT eligible for this position.

Job Summary

Performs the set-up of examination rooms, monitoring of students during examinations according to established procedures. Responsible for the review and formatting of test and exam materials and follow-up with faculty and academic departments.

Duties
  • Provide information and orientation to Invigilator I.
  • Review, format and print test and exam materials in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
  • Liaise with faculty and academic departments regarding the administration of test and exam materials.
  • Distribute, collate and collect examination papers, answer booklets and associated exam materials.
  • Monitor students during examinations and escort students as required.
  • Monitor and respond to inquiries from students, faculty and academic departments in person, over email or on the phone, based on established guidelines. Escalate as required.
  • Ensure adherence to examination regulations.
  • Administer student sign-ins.
  • Complete and submit incident reports as required.
  • Enter, record and maintain information in spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ensure desk and work stations are in clean working condition.
  • Act as a Scribe for students according to what the student is dictating.
  • Act as a Reader and read examination papers clearly.
  • Make pre-scribed announcements throughout the examination period.
  • Review identification of and return completed examination materials to authorized faculty or academic personnel
  • Set-up test and examination arrangements including technical support.

Before the start of the examination period candidates selected to work as Examination Invigilators are required to watch a training video and complete the EOHSS (Environmental & Occupational Health Support Services) training required for safety training. All employees will be paid for the successful completion of all required training modules.
