About us:

The Investor Protection Program at the Faculty of Law (the “Program”) provides public legal education to members of vulnerable communities who are at risk of suffering harm, or may have suffered harm, relatingto their investments. Additionally, the Program collaborates with institutional regulators, consumer advocacy groups, and other community partners to provide research support relating to investor issues.

Informed by the needs of vulnerable Canadian communities, the Program engages in a broad range of activities to educate the community and promote investor protection and rights. We focus on helping the elderly, newcomers to Canada, young people, and others who may not have access to legal representation.

Under the general direction of the Director, Future of Law Lab and Investor Protection Program, the Investor Protection Program Manager provides project management, stakeholder management, and administrative leadership for the Program. The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing project designs, project implementation, communication plans, workflow management, and all other aspects of managing Program activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

-Developing overall project design
-Planning and implementing project phases
-Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables, and reporting
-Developing a comprehensive and integrated marketing strategy
-Developing and implementing communication plans that support strategic objectives
-Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
-Monitoring project accounts
-Directing a small group in a limited area, including responsibility for scheduling and/or workflow


Essential Qualifications:

-Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
-Minimum six years’ experience in managing projects or programs related to investor protection or consumer/public interest advocacy
-Experience promoting and maintaining multi-faceted projects
-Advanced knowledge of consumer rights/protections policies and mandates, including, but not limited to, policies and mandates of the Ontario Securities Commission, Canadian Investor Protection Fund, and Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization
-Experience in planning and executing all aspects of project management processes, including developing overall project design and monitoring project accounts
-Experience developing and implementing comprehensive, multi-year marketing and communications strategies
-Experience researching, analyzing, and recommending strategies to generate new business, funding and/or partnership opportunities
-Experience writing funding proposals, coordinating the application process, and delivering presentations to attract sponsorship opportunities
-Experience building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
-Demonstrated ability to work with and motivate staff, students, and partners
-Familiarity with tools and strategies for accessible communication, ensuring alignment with inclusion and equity principles (e.g., AODA
-Strong copywriting skills for creating impactful, tailored marketing content
-Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Canva, and PowerPoint
-Excellent analytical skills
-Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
-Experience researching, analyzing, and recommending strategies to generate new business, funding and/or partnership opportunities

Assets (Nonessential):

-An LL.B. (J.D.) Degree
-Related experience in senior positions within administration and management in a publicly funded or public-interest organization
-Experience working directly with student research projects
-Experience developing and editing research content
-Knowledge of law school programs
