As the Investment Reporting Analyst, you will be responsible for responding to requests for qualitative and quantitative research pieces on products of all the assets under management for Scotiabank’s Canadian Asset Management arm. You will be part of a team of professionals that work in a coordinated fashion in order to meet tight deadlines with quality work.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be:

  • Developing and maintaining a strong working knowledge of Dynamic and Scotia products and competitor products, while keeping abreast of industry developments that may impact Dynamic;
  • Generating key executive level reports to support the investment oversight and governance framework;
  • Develop strong working relationships with other cross-functional teams such as performance, oversight, product management and risk teams;
  • Performing Ad hoc research regarding competitive product features and performance;
  • Assisting in maintaining new product sales statistics;
  • Producing performance reports that include value-added analyses of returns, attribution, style, risk, added value and portfolio characteristics for internally managed portfolios and for portfolios managed by external sub-advisors;
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvements to the efficiency, timing and reliability of reporting processes;
  • Reviewing quality and accuracy of product information in marketing reference guides and online material;
  • Updating of monthly and quarterly investment analytics reports through the generation and maintenance of raw data files;
  • Writes commentaries and assembles the internal PM performance review packages;
  • Acting as a support to the company’s research activities as requested;
  • Populating consultant databases;
  • Vetting and Generating Client Reporting;
  • Monitoring of sales and redemption activity;
  • Assisting in requests from Sales, Marketing, Product Management & Development departments;
  • Monitoring changes and maintaining database of industry developments;
  • Responding to requests for qualitative and quantitative research pieces on products, industry trends, investment personnel, and other related topics;
  • Performing other projects as required.

Skills

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline such as Mathematics, Commerce, Finance or Economics an asset;
  • 2+ years of experience in the same or similar field is a must;
  • Advanced Microsoft Office capabilities, particularly Excel, is a must;
  • Strong knowledge of software platforms such as Morningstar Direct and Crystal Reports is essential;
  • Completion of or working towards designations such as CFA/CIPM/FRM considered an asset;
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills;
  • Proactive, self-starter – ability to run with a project and see it through to completion;
  • Detail-oriented with strong time-management skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team;
  • Completion of Canadian Securities Course;
  • Able to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
