Job description

Validus Risk Management is seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong drive and experience in providing clients with tailored investment solutions and an interest in capital markets.

Passionate about capital markets, as part of Validus Macro Strategies (investment group of Validus), the candidate will be working alongside our advisory, global capital markets professionals, as well as Validus’ technology teams who are building award-winning solutions for our clients.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Working directly with the head of Macro Strategies / CIO to create a Business Development & Marketing plan for bringing Validus’s range of derivatives-based investment products and custom solutions to institutional clients, family offices, and High Net Worth Investment Advisors.
  • Execute the Business Development & Marketing strategy by:
    • Establishing and regularly updating the universe of leads and prospects.
    • Reaching out, building, and maintaining strong relationships with prospective clients and providing advice and insights about Validus investment products and solutions (including the PUTD ETF) and their use case in their portfolios.
    • Maintaining direct contact with clients and prospects on an ongoing basis to identify custom-hedging and bespoke investment needs, to bring them best-in-class solutions that meet their investment requirements and targets, based on Validus' expertise and investment solutions.
  • Drive the growth of the business line to meet both AUM (asset under management) targets and annual budget targets as defined in the Business Development and Marketing plans.
  • Actively participate - along with the CIO - in defining the pipeline of new investment strategies and products, by identifying industry trends and important themes which are the focus of institutional investors and family offices.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and financial products (hedging, systematic strategies, macro themes, etc.) by reviewing periodicals, attending seminars, and meeting with industry experts.
  • Analyze competition’s products and offerings to identify business opportunities, and to inform Validus’ product development.
  • Participate with other specialized Validus staff and external 3rd party providers (as applicable) in defining and supporting the digital marketing campaign for Investment Products.
  • Coordinate with other internal groups – trading, quant, legal, and risk - the onboarding of new clients.
  • Comply with both internal and external operational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of derivative products, hedging, and general familiarity with core notions of portfolio management.
  • 3 to 4 years minimum relevant experience at a broker/dealer or financial institutions with exposure to structured products and/or derivatives sales.
  • Experience and demonstrated success in covering and interacting with any of these types of investors: family offices, High Net Worth Advisors, and/or institutional investors (pension funds, asset managers).
  • Canadian Securities Course, FINRA Series 7 and 63 a definite plus.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and lead projects as well as within a team-oriented environment.
  • Professional conduct, consistently guided by integrity, partnership, and high performance.
  • Canadian work authorization is required.
Compensation:
  • Competitive salary.
  • Company and personal performance-based bonus paid semi-annually. (Eligibility to join scheme following 6 months service).
