This role supports the Investment Advisor (IA) in growing the business by identifying and cultivating new client opportunities, with a strong focus on developing relationships within CIBC’s retail banking network to uncover potential Wood Gundy clients. As a licensed Investment Representative (IR), the role uses investment knowledge and client discovery skills to help align financial solutions with clients’ risk/reward profiles, as determined by the IA. While the role includes some client servicing responsibilities, its primary focus is on business development, marketing initiatives, and building strong internal and external referral networks. Success in this role requires excellent networking skills, a proactive approach to relationship-building, and a high level of professionalism, regulatory awareness, and commitment to client success—all contributing to the growth and performance of the advisory team.

What you’ll be doing

As a member of CIBC Wood Gundy, you will be responsible for building and growing Wood Gundy client portfolios through dedicated relationship management, trusted investment advice and exceptional client service. As a Financial Associate, you will work closely with Investment Advisors at CIBC Wood Gundy to help manage their portfolios and develop new business. You will directly engage with high-net-worth clients to offer support, uncover business opportunities, and proactively improve the client experience.

  • Client Engagement - Anticipate client needs and communicate promptly with your team to build trust and deepen client relationships. Identify activities, processes and opportunities to improve the client experience while keeping detailed records in CRM software. You know your strengths and can anticipate both the needs of our clients as well as the team. Responsible for coordinating our exceptional Onboarding Experience which includes a series of well-defined steps that happens from the moment we are introduced to a potential client to the point they are fully engaged as a new client.

  • Business Development – Proactively identify business opportunities for your team. Work closely with Investment Advisors to support business development activities and assist in the building of investment plans based on the client’s profile, goals, and risk/reward tolerance.

  • Relationship Building - You thrive in a dynamic, fast paced professional work environment, and work effectively both independently and as part of the team. Who you are

  • You will be a certified professional. You are willing to complete Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct & Practice Handbook (CPH) and obtain Investment Representative (IR) licensing within 4 months of hire. Financial Services and/or Brokerage industry experience and working knowledge is required.

  • You speak Mandarin and Cantonese. Youare fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese to serve our diverse client base.
