Job Description:

PURPOSE OF ROLE
As a member of our Forensic Analysis and Investigations Team, you will conduct data access, compilation, and reporting to support the investigation of suspected illegal conduct of individuals and companies licensed or requiring licensing under the various acts administered by FSRA.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducting information searches from a range of FSRA, municipal, provincial and federal government databases, other police/municipal and enforcement agencies across Canada and insurance company published statistics.
- Compiling and analyzing large volumes of data and preparing summaries to support investigations related to potential legislative breaches or misconduct.
- Conducting interviews of representatives of financial service entities that are the subject of investigations to collect information/evidence independently or as part of a team.
- Identifying, obtaining, securing and analyzing relevant evidence to support investigations.
- Completing and/or participating in the preparation of evidentiary briefs suitable for presentation in a regulatory hearing, provincial prosecution and as required in a Criminal Code prosecution.
- Compiling/providing information to legal counsel in support of cases and presenting evidence as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Mandatory Requirements
- Valid Ontario drivers license for province wide driving in support of ongoing responsibilities
Specialized Knowledge And Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in investigative methods and techniques to provide analytical support, conduct interviews and gather evidence for investigations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in court procedures, rules of evidence, related legislative and regulatory requirements (e.g., Provincial Offences Act, Ontario and Canada Evidence Act, Criminal Code of Canada) and familiarity with related case law to contribute to investigative reports, support Legal Counsel in the preparation of cases and Crown evidentiary briefs and to testify in court and in hearings.
Skills
- Proven research, analytical and evaluative skills to determine the parameters for information searches and sources required for raw data and information and to conduct complex analysis of a large volume of raw data; identify and review evidence materials, and assess the value, sufficiency and admissibility of evidence.
- Proven oral communication and interpersonal skills to meet with management and/or representatives of financial institutions to gather and exchange information.
- Demonstrated presentation skills to testify as a witness in court proceedings and in hearings.
- Proven written communication skills to prepare analytical summaries/reports and to contribute to investigation reports.
- Computer proficiency in the use of databases, statistical, graphics and spreadsheet software
