Job summary

MEC in Whistler, BC is seeking an Inventory Specialist to ensure inventory accuracy and provide exceptional customer service at our new store. You’ll help count and audit stock, process inbound and outbound shipments, and support daily operations with a hands-on, team-focused approach.

Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years experience with customer service, inventory handling, or retail sales.
• Demonstrated basic knowledge of retail inventory control, inventory handling, shipping and receiving processes.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Customer service: The Inventory Specialist position is required to provide flexibility to complete customer service tasks and shifts when the business needs demand it.
• Inventory Management: Conduct daily counts, audits; complete cycle counts; enter inventory adjustments for the store daily.
• Responsible for executing shipping and receiving tasks including but not limited to outbound shipments; ensure records are up to date and meet MEC standards.
• Proficiency in using multiple programs including Excel, MMS, and other tools to complete functions of the job.

The Role

The Inventory Specialist role is a frontline position that is focused on driving inventory excellence and customer service. The position works to improve in-store inventory accuracy by conducting counts, audits, record keeping, and processing inbound and outbound shipments.

Duties & Responsibilities

Customer service: The Inventory Specialist position is required to provide flexibility to complete customer service tasks and shifts when the business needs demand it.

Inventory Management

• Conduct daily counts, audits.
• Complete cycle counts.
• Enter inventory adjustments for the store on a daily basis.
• Responsible for executing shipping and receiving tasks including but not limited to:
• Ensuring outbound shipments meet our internal standards.
• Final preparation of outbound shipments applying postage and carrier co-ordination.
• Ensure all the records relating to inventory adjustments, outbound/inbound shipments, store location management (offsite/rentals/demo etc.) are up to date and meeting MEC standards.
• Inventory (trade) Purchase Order receiving.
• Proficiency in the use of multiple programs including but not limited to Excel, MMS, and other tools to complete functions of the job.

Availability

• Full, open availability five (5) days a week including one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).

Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years experience with customer service, inventory handling, or retail sales.
• Demonstrated basic knowledge of retail inventory control, inventory handling, shipping and receiving processes.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel.

Working conditions

• This position requires shift work and will not have a set schedule.
• This position will have customer facing activities and back of house activities to be determined by the store management team and the needs of the business.

Physical Requirements

• This position may require extended periods of completing the following: sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
• The role requires the ability to lift and carry product up to 50lbs.

Compensation

• This role ranges from $20.40 to $23.00, dependent on skills, experience, and certifications, with flexibility for candidates who bring additional relevant experience.
